Jeremy Greenbrook-Held

JeremyFuture West candidate for the Henderson-Massey Local Board and the Lincoln Ward of the Waitakere Licensing Trust.
Jeremy Greenbrook-Held is a keen advocate of public transport – as a member of the Henderson Massey Local Board, Jeremy will be working to significantly improve public transport services in the West, particularly for residents in Te Atatu and Massey.

“Some West Auckland suburbs are well served by the western rail line, but if you live in suburbs around the motorway, services are not quite as good” says Jeremy. “For example, it takes between 15 minutes to half an hour to drive from our house in West Harbour to downtown Auckland, depending on traffic. However, if you catch a bus, it takes at least an hour. That’s insane”.

“With significant improvements in the pipeline for the North Western Motorway and the completion of the Hobsonville Deviation nearing, there has never been a better time to build dedicated bus lanes out West. Dedicated bus lanes have been operating on the Northern Motorway from the Harbour Bridge to Albany on the North Shore for several years now. A similar service would be even more successful on the North Western Motorway, because we don’t have the limitations of the Harbour Bridge that our friends on the North Shore have to contend with.”

Jeremy is also keen on using the Waitamata Harbour as a transport route: “The current West Harbour ferry service is a joke. $12 each way isn’t viable for many commuters. I’d like to see a cheaper service which could potentially call at Te Atatu North and Hobsonville in the future. I’d – for one – much rather catch a ferry to Auckland than sit in traffic.”
